More about me

Motivation:
Food is one of the bonds we share as a human tribe. I believe that keeping the world fed is key to a peaceful planet and to creating future generations of societal contributors. And we need to do it smartly. In my life I’ve had the ability to travel and speak with farmers and people all around the world. Communicating about agriculture is important to me. So let’s talk about how we grow food in a science-based way for the betterment of all.

Educational background:
I’ve always loved nature ever since I was little. Growing up in a small mountain community gave me the appreciation for the outdoors and connecting with your fellow human. I went to college at the University of California, Davis and received two bachelor’s degrees there: one in Biology and another in Spanish. I received a master’s degree in Biochemistry from Sacramento State. I call myself lucky to use my degrees everyday (yes, even the one in Spanish!) and am a strong advocate for science education and a career in agriculture.

Employment:
I love working in agriculture and thank my lucky stars every day to be surrounded by great people and awesome science. I am a specialist in beneficial agricultural microbes and digital technologies that are advancing the way we farm. Over my 17+ years working in this field I have held roles in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Field Development, and most recently Regulatory. My opinions are my own.
